The Kraft Heinz Kitt Green Factory completed the largest Stop Hunger Now packaging event ever held at a Kraft Heinz manufacturing site and packed over 200,000 hunger relief meals that will go children of the Kibera slum in Nairobi.

The event brought together over 700 Kitt Green employees working together as one team to help combat hunger and to support the company’s vision To Be the Best Food Company, Growing a Better World.

Since 2014, Kraft Heinz employees have participated in nearly 20 Stop Hunger Now meal packaging events around the world to feed hungry children and combat global malnutrition.

To date over 1,000,000 hunger relief meals have now touched the lives of children and families in 33 different countries. Over time, the meals can actually cure children of malnutrition, and ultimately, save lives.

What makes each of the meals so effective are the powerful ingredients they contain. Every meal bag is composed of rice, a dehydrated vegetable mix, soy flour for protein, and the heart of the meal – our Kraft Heinz formulated micronutrient supplements. A single 1 oz. serving of our micronutrient mix fortifies every Stop Hunger Now meal with an additional 19 essential vitamins and minerals approved by UNICEF and the World Health Organization for healthy growth and development. The supplements are a tasteless, odourless, powder that can be mixed directly into the meals, which makes them the perfect solution to malnutrition.

Our food experts pioneered the development of these micronutrients more than a decade ago, and this year, hundreds of thousands of volunteers all over the world, will package them into roughly 68 million Stop Hunger Now meal bags for global distribution. At Kraft Heinz, our goal is to package 2.5 million of those meals at the more than 25 employee meal packaging events that we will be conducting around the world in 2016.
